Kouign Bakery: website revamp

A warm, whimsical bakery brought to life online

Kouign Bakery is a small, locally loved bakery in Wallingford, Connecticut known for its small-batch pastries, whimsical personality, and community spirit.

Their previous website (built in 2021) had heart, rich photos, cozy tones, but wasn’t built for how customers actually search today.

From our initial audit we found:

  • Outdated SEO metadata (2021 copyright, missing keywords)

  • Image-only pages and FAQs that were not readable by Google or AI search tools

  • Limited Calls-to-Action (“About,” “Order,” or “Contact” were hard to find)

  • Inconsistent info non-clickable phone/address and missing hours

  • Accessibility gaps no alt text or semantic headings for screen readers

  • No storytelling the site didn’t reflect the bakery’s local personality or community work

How Generative Reach helped:

🎨 Design That Feels Like Kouign

The new site feels like walking into the bakery itself. It is bright, warm, and welcoming.
Navigation is simpler, the layout works beautifully on phones, and everything customers need is easy to find like hours, menu, and how to get there.
We added clear buttons and one-tap links so people can call, order, or visit without hunting for details.

📈 Built to Be Found (SEO + AI Search)

Before, Kouign’s pages looked lovely but were nearly invisible online, much of the content was hidden inside images that didn’t even have alt-text.
Now, everything is searchable and readable.
Each page uses clear language, helpful keywords like “Wallingford bakery” and “Connecticut pastries,” and the right structure so it appears naturally in both Google and AI-powered search results.

🧁 Sharing the Story

Beyond the visuals, the goal was to make sure Kouign’s heart shines through.
FAQs now sound just like Chelsea talking to her customers, and new sections are on the way to share her story and community involvement.
It’s now a website that reflects who she is, what her business stands for and not just what she bakes.
